10-12th MAY 2019

Victoria, BC

I've been to all kinds of cons.  Regional or national, I've probably been to it.  In the last 6 years in particular, I've been to a number of pacific northwest events that I really like, Bottoscon, GameOn! and (new to me this year), CascadeCon.  These multi-day events focus on boardgames only and a schedule of events freely posted and ran by the attendees.  No need for events to be approved, or waiting days, weeks or even months for gathered events to be posted.  If the con is on, the schedule is ready and waiting for you!
I wanted a similar event in Victoria, so I resolved to do it myself.  In examining a convention calendar, May consistently came up as an open spot.  And what better month to host a con in Victoria?  We celebrate Victoria day in May, and the City of Gardens is in full bloom.
It's a beautiful city.  Come and game!

How to Get Here

Take the bus!  The Comfort Inn is just off Douglas St., serviced by all major BC transit routes.  Get off the bus at Douglas and Finlayson and walk east down Finlayson.  Turn right on Nanaimo, then left on Redbrick.  Hotel is then on your right.

Driving?  Come south down Blanshard, just past Mayfair Mall and Finlayson St. is a small exit onto Redbrick st.
Coming north you will have to loop around via Finlayson and/or Nanaimo St.

If in or north of Seattle, drive to the BC Ferries Tsawwassen terminal.  (check your passport today!)
Take the Victoria ferry, via vehicle or walk on.
Follow Pat Bay Highway into town which becomes Blanshard and exit as above driving directions,
or take the bus from right inside the terminal to downtown.  Get off at Finlayson as above.

In Seattle and want to leave your car?  Consider taking the Clipper
This is a foot passenger only ferry straight from Seattle harbour to Victoria harbour.
Use BC transit to get to the hotel, getting off at Finlayson again.

South of Seattle?  Fastest route may be over to Port Angeles and taking the COHO ferry straight into the Inner Harbour.
Drive or bus from there north up Douglas St. to Finlayson again.

Redd's Roadhouse Pub is right on site, upstairs from the convention.
(We are looking into service to your table!)

Mayfair Mall food court is a half block north, with over a dozen choices.

There is also a Red Robin, Swiss Chalet, Dennys and Bin 4 Burger Lounge all within walking distance.

Drive and the world is your oyster....Victoria has the highest concentration of restaurants in Canada.

Events at VICTORIACONN are run by the attendees.

Go to the schedule and add details for the boardgame you want to host, and/or add your name to the list of players for other games.
There will be an Advanced Squad Leader event and Saturday night at any con has always been a social deduction game night for me.
Plenty of open gaming to be had as well, just find a table!  (We are sourcing something to flag tables that are looking for players.)

Head on over to the Victoria Gamers Facebook group to discuss, ask questions and prearrange games.

See you there!
